The children’s event is held to mark the World Wetland Day

The Addu Nature Park is to host its first wetland fair, under the name Wetland Fair 2019, the park has said.

Aminath Afaau, assistant director of the Addu Nature Park, said that the children’s event is held to mark the World Wetland Day, and participation is free.

The fair will be held from 7:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and events such as awareness sessions, canoe racing, wetland quizzes, and art competitions will be held at the fair.

Children from age 9 to 12 are eligible to participate in the event. The participants will be given a guided tour of the Addu Nature Park.

The Addu Nature Park is one of the biggest tourist attractions in southernmost Addu City, and includes the Koattey protected area and the Eydhigali Kilhi, one of the largest wetlands in the Maldives, second only to wetlands in neighbouring Fuvahmulah.
