The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has asked the public to refrain from parking their vehicles on top fire hydrants in capital city Male’.
Colonel Abdulla Zuhuree made this appeal while speaking to media at a press conference on Monday.
Stressing that parking in the regions where fire hydrants are installed is illegal, Colonel Zuhuree stated that this is a growing issue.
The Colonel stated that signs are placed to identify spots in which fire hydrants are placed, however, they are ignored by some while parking and this creates difficulties when fire hydrants are needed.
While 29 fire hydrants have been stationed across the capital city, all of them are working except for one, revealed the Colonel.
“Due to the recent road development, the functioning of some of these hydrants are hindered. We had completed the cleaning of fire hydrants in November, and 28 of them are in good condition and safe to use” said Zuhuree.
