The current administration does not aim to just fulfill its pledges, but to listen to the issues face by the people, says tourism minister Ali Waheed.
While the ministry is currently hosting the Guesthouse Symposium 2018, Waheed said that the government will listen to the issues noted by those that attended the symposium, and "seek adequate solutions."
The minister stated that national co-operation is needed to bring solutions to all issues that surface for the tourism sector.
Moreover, a strategic masterplan will be formed within President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s first 100 days in office, and will be formed with the teamwork of all working in the field of tourism.
Thanking those that attended the forum during the peak season, Minister Waheed highlighted that over 400 individuals had attended Saturday’s forum alone.
Furthermore, Minister Waheed stated that the current administration is working to bring adequate amendments to the Decentralization Act.
The Guesthouse Symposium 2018 focused on hearing out issues being faced by the guesthouse community.
The concluding ceremony of the symposium kicked off on Saturday night, and President Solih, Minister Waheed, other cabinet ministers, high-ranking state officials and foreign delegates attended the ceremony, as well as former President Mohamed Nasheed who introduced the guesthouse industry to Maldives.
