Maldives President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has on Sunday sent separate felicitation messages to top officials of the government of United Arab Emirates following the commemoration of the 47th “Eid al-Watani”, the National Day of UAE.
As such, President Solih sent messages conveying his heartfelt felicitations to the President of UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as well as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
President Solih in his message to President of the UAE, reflected on “formal diplomatic ties” that have flourished between the two brotherly countries for over four decades, expressing his hope to maintain and “further cultivate” the “fruitful development partnership” between both countries that has been based on “mutual trust, understanding and good will”.
Noting that the “Abu Dhabi Fund for Development” has contributed generously over the past years, towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives, President Solih wrote that the government and people of the Maldives remain “deeply appreciative” of this.
In his message to Sheikh Maktoum, President Solih conveyed his keen interest to establish a sound working relationship with the government of UAE to expand the present scoped of economic, commercial, social and cultural cooperation.
President Solih further stated that the government of Maldives “highly values” the long-standing relations between both countries which are rooted “in common adherence to Islam, shared values and mutual trust between both countries”.
Similarly, President Solih addressed the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in his commemorative message, in which he expressed confidence that the existing brotherly relations will further strengthen, through “concerted efforts” between the two countries.
The National Day of UAE commemorates the federal unification of the seven emirates to form the modern-day nation and is marked through majestic celebrations every year on the 02nd of December across the country.
