Maldives Nationals Defense Force (MNDF) has begun commemorating Victory Day.

MNDF is set to conduct a musical drill at Republic Square at 4:50pm which is open to the public.

Later on Saturday night, an official Victory Day ceremony will be held at the military headquarters.

The defense force will also conduct musical drills at the Hulhumale’ Central Park on Sunday and in the Villimale’ harbor on Monday.

Victory Day remembers those who were martyred in the attempted coup by foreign terrorists on 3 November 1988. 19 Maldivians lost their lives when a group of 90 terrorist fighters invaded capital Male’ City and attempted to take control of the Maldives government.
