Alice Wells, the acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of US Department of State for South and Central Asian Affairs on Tuesday arrived in the Maldives on a two-day official visit.
Wells, who was appointed to the post at the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs last year, was welcomed at the Velana international Airport by Secretary Bilateral Ahmed Khaleel.
RaajjeMV understands that she will be meeting with senior officials of the state, opposition parties and civil society organizations as well.

The Department of State stated that she will offer congratulations on the country's successful national elections and convey US interest in expanding bilateral cooperation.
Wells is on a three-day trip to Sri Lanka and Maldives. She is set to stay in Maldives for two days and end her trip in Sri Lanka on Thursday.
