It is notable that many foreign leaders and diplomats are congratulating Solih for winning his bid for Presidency, via telephone calls as well as on social media. Many state employees and high-ranking officials at state-run institutions are also observed calling on the President-elect.
As such, Sri Lanka’s President, Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Saudi Arabia’s King, Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as the Japanese Government had phoned Solih, who is to be sworn-in as Maldives President for a five-year term on the 17th of November, to convey their best wishes to him as well as to express hope that ties between Maldives and their governments will remain the same, hopefully flourish further after Solih takes oath.
