President Abdulla Yameen, who is vying for re-election in the upcoming Presidential Election slated for September, has pledged to build a bridge between Meedhoo and Hithadhoo districts of Addu City.

Speaking to residents of Hulhumeedhoo island during his trip to Addu and Fuvahmulah cities on Thursday, President Yameen said that he had been shown a drawing of a bridge between Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo by a resident, but that he intends to build a bridge between Meedhoo and Hithadhoo districts.

“I pledge to build a bridge linking Meedhoo and Hithadhoo. This is an easy task for me” the President told the citizens.

President Yameen said that if the citizens elect him as the President for the next five years, he will bring a desirable development to cities. As such, he stressed the hardships residents in Hulhumeedhoo face in attaining basic services, adding that they are required to travel to Hithadhoo district to attain even the most basic service.

“We will bring major amendments to the Decentralization Act” said President Yameen.

Moreover, the President pledged to instigate a coat protection scheme in Meedhoo island if he is elected for a second term.
