Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) remains undecided on staying in the ruling party’s coalition but has handed over temporary leadership to Kendhikolhudhoo MP Ali Mauroof.
MDA’s council voted for MP Mauroof to lead the party at a meeting on Tuesday.
RaajjeMV understands that MDA has refrained from renewing its coalition agreement with Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) as the government is yet to hand over the necessary documents.
RaajjeMV was also informed that business tycoon Ahmed Siyam has stepped away from MDA’s leadership to focus on his businesses as well as due to various other reasons. Siyam was the one who proposed to appoint MP Mauroof as the party leader.
