Elections Commission (EC) has said that their officials should be trained enough to stop fraud in September’s presidential election.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of EC’s training programme, commission president Ahmed Shareef said the programme will provide crucial important for officials to detect fraud.

He said that officials should also be trained to show that the election is being carried out in a transparent manner to voters and observers.

EC said 70 people will be participating in the seven-day training programme at the old Jamaluddin building.

Shareef told the participants that EC officials working at polling stations should not divulge their political leanings.
