Ex-VP calls on next administration to hold trials on murdered MP, blogger, and abducted journalist in open hall
The former VP called on authorities to give justice to the victims and their mourning families by re-opening their cases as quickly as possible
'The current government had failed to provide justice in the case of Rilwan and others alike, by a wide margin'
Adeeb accused President Yameen of halting cabinet-level work carried out in search of Rilwan

The next administration must re-open and hold trials of murdered MP for Ungoofaaru constituency Dr. Afrasheem Ali, blogger Yameen Rasheed, as well as abducted journalist Ahmed Rilwan, somewhere like Dharubaaruge in capital city Male’, says former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.

The incarcerated ex-VP called on the next elected President to re-open these cases and conduct trials in a larger hall, through a statement given to his legal representatives on the day marking the fourth year since Rilwan’s disappearance.

Adeeb had in the statement, called on the next administration to re-open the cases of such victims whose families have been deprived of justice, and to conduct their trials in a hall large enough for citizens to observe the proceedings.

The former VP called on authorities to give justice to the victims and their mourning families by re-opening their cases as quickly as possible. He went on to say that the current government had failed to provide justice in the case of Rilwan and others alike, by a wide margin.

Adeeb had also gone on to accuse incumbent President Abdulla Yameen of halting the work carried out at the cabinet-level in search of the abducted journalist.

Lawmaker Dr. Afrasheem Ali was killed outside his residence on the 02nd of October 2012. Journalist Ahmed Rilwan was reportedly abducted outside his apartment building on the 08th of August 2014. On the 23rd of April 2017, blogger and human rights defender Yameen Rasheed was found stabbed to death on the stairwell of his residence.
