Historic decisions will be made in Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s congress on Saturday, says the party’s Parliamentary Group leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu).
In an interview with RaajjeTV before the start of the MDP congress in AA. Ukulhas, Solih said that everyone has to work together to bring an end to the current oppression.
He vowed that the work of the opposition coalition will be successful and called on everyone to join their efforts.
Solih noted that this was the first party congress being held in an island and that they will also make an announcement regarding MDP's presidential candidate.
Many have shown their support for Solih as MDP’s presidential candidate, after former President Mohamed Nasheed relinquished the party ticket for September’s election.
After Nasheed’s decision, the opposition coalition parties announced that it will back an MDP member for their common presidential candidate and a member of Jumhoree Party (JP) as their running mate.
