Police and Customs officers had raided five resorts belonging to opposition leader Qasim Ibrahim’s Villa Group earlier this year as well

Maldives Customs Service has conducted an operation in Paradise Island Resort again, over an alcohol related matter.

Police confirmed that its officers were active in Paradise Island Resort on Sunday, adding that they were merely assisting in an operation conducted by the Customs. However, the police media officer did not disclose any further information on the case.

RaajjeMV understands that Paradise Island Resort is being accused of using liquor imported by a safari boat.

RaajjeMV was unable to get a comment from Paradise Island Resort, as the resort’s general manager failed to answer our calls.

Police and Customs officers had raided five resorts belonging to opposition leader Qasim Ibrahim’s Villa Group earlier this year, accusing it of distributing liquor and pork without a license,  after cancelling their license to import pork and alcohol to four of the resorts.
