Ex-MDP Chair Ali Waheed chosen as JP president
Waheed was chosen as JP president with 154 votes to 102 votes against
Jumhooree Party (JP) congress at Paradise Island Resort
Ali Waheed has been chosen as Jumhooree Party (JP) president.
The former chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) was chosen as JP president with 154 votes to 102 votes against at the recently held party congress.
Dr. Abdulla Mausoom was the only one who contested for the position of vice presidency and won with 240 votes and 8 votes against.
Dr. Hussain Rasheed, Ameen Ibrahim, Abdulla Ameen, and Mohamed Fayaz won the positions of deputy leader while Abdulla Kamaludeen lost with 160 votes.
Waleeda Waheed was chosen as president of the women’s league and Assad Riza was chosen as president of the youth league.
JP leader Qasim Ibrahim’s wife Aishath Nahula was chosen as a council member with 227 votes. Others who were chosen for council membership are Hussain Rasheed, Ahmed Sujau, Hussain Nihad, Sofwan Mahmood, Ahmed Riyaz, Assad Ali, Ahmed Mohamed, Abdulla Rasheed Moosa, Ahmed Moosa, Mohamed Saeed, Mohamed Fikuree, Hassan Sujau, Hussain Ahmed, and Aneesa Saeed.
