Renowned lawyer and former Attorney General Husnu Suood has accused the police service of violating Twitter rules.
The police service issued their summons notice for former President Mohamed Mohamed Nasheed and Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim via Twitter on Tuesday.
Suood said that disclosing a person’s personal information such as the identity number violates Twitter rules and advised the police service to read the rules they get reported.
This violates twitter rules - disclosing a persons personal information such as identity number etc - read them before some one reports this tweet. https://t.co/WiL4Nmfasa

Some have criticized the police service for issuing the summons for the self-exiled opposition leaders on Twitter instead of issuing a red notice from Interpol.
