Immigration has refused to release Chair of Adhaalath Party's media committee Ali Nazeer’s passport even after he received court approval.

Immigration withheld his passport on March 16 after he went to the airport to go to Sri Lanka for a family visit.

Immigration also withheld the passports of Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth, North-Maafannu Imthiyaz Fahmy, and Kaashidhoo MP Faisal Nadheem.

Their passports were withheld over what they had said in a press conference held by the opposition coalition in March. They were accused of encouraging citizens to protest and were at various times summoned to give statements to the police.

On Monday, the Criminal Court ordered that their passports be released and the police have given the court documents to the opposition members.

Nazeer told RaajjeMV on Tuesday that Immigration has refused to give a reason why they were disobeying the court order.

Immigration Controller Mohamed Anwar told RajjeMV that they have not received a court order to release his passport.
