Authorities have released the passports of Maduvvari MP Mohamed Ameeth, North-Maafannu Imthiyaz Fahmy, Kaashidhoo MP Faisal Nadheem, and Chair of Adhaalath Party's media committee Ali Nazeer.

Their passports were released, three months after being withheld upon a court order, after police stopped their investigation and filed away their cases.

Their passports were withheld over what they had said in a press conference held by the opposition coalition in March. They were accused of encouraging citizens to protest and were at various times summoned to give statements to the police.

Due to their withheld passports, MP Ameeth had been unable to attend his grandfather’s funeral in Sri Lanka and MP Faisal had been unable to treat his eye problem abroad.
