Opportunities for re-registration is open from the 17th of June till the 19th of August
Opportunities for candidates to contest will be opened from the 15th of July, till a period of 10 days.
Candidates will be granted a period of 30 days to campaign

Elections Commission (EC) has revealed that over 450 ballot boxes will be placed in the upcoming presidential elections slated for September.

President of the commission, Ahmed Shareef said that over 450 ballot boxes will be placed in polling stations across the nation as well as overseas.

However, the commission stated that an exact amount of ballot boxes will be revealed after the re-registration process.

Opportunities for re-registration is open from the 17th of June till the 19th of August according to the EC, and opportunities for candidates to contest will be opened from the 15th of July, till a period of 10 days.

Candidates will be granted a period of 30 days to campaign.

According to the EC, media will be given the opportunity to monitor the progress of the elections as well. However, when monitors will be selected after checking if they have a contract with media and those that do not, will not be granted the opportunity to become monitors.

It is believed that media will face obstacles to an extent even if the EC has allowed media personnel to be active around ballot boxes during the day of election.

The presidential elections has been slated for the 23rd of September.
