Jailed former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has been given the opportunity to meet his lawyers after a month.
His lawyer, Moosa Siraj, told RaajjeMV that the Correctional Service allowed a meeting on Saturday.
Siraj said that their previous meeting was on May 8 and that being unable to speak with him has hindered their ability to prepare for his trial.
He also said that Adeeb is being kept in solitary confinement in Maafushi Prison, which will affect his mental health.
Adeeb has been suffering from glaucoma since he began serving prison sentences totaling 33 years. Siraj said that Adeeb’s eyesight is deteriorating and that since there was a long delay with lawyers not being able to meet him, they were unable to get the necessary information from him to seek medical treatment.
Familial visits have also been restricted from one visit per week to one per month.
