Will not interfere with opposition bringing out common candidate: Nasheed
The opposition leader vowed that the Joint Opposition will choose a common candidate that will beat President Abdulla Yameen by a huge margin
JP leader Qasimn noted that Nasheed is legally unable to contest the election and said that JP cannot accept the coalition bringing out a high-risk candidate
He also said that JP does not believe that anyone other than a member of MDP should become President

Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that he will not be an obstacle to the opposition coalition’s effort to bring out a common candidate for this year’s presidential election.

In a tweet on Sunday morning, the opposition leader vowed that the Joint Opposition will choose a common candidate that will beat President Abdulla Yameen by a huge margin.

Jumhoree Party (JP) leader Qasim Ibrahim, in a recent letter to the party’s council members, said that JP is prepared to give any leeway necessary for the coalition’s reform efforts.

In the letter, Qasim noted that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) leader Nasheed is legally unable to contest the election and said that JP cannot accept the coalition bringing out a high-risk candidate or running mate.

He also said that, up to this point, JP has never believed that anyone other than a member of MDP should become President.
