While it has a month since the leak, the police media officer told RaajjeMV on Wednesday that the investigation is still ongoing
Leaked statements include those from prominent state officials

No arrests have been made yet regarding the leaked statements taken for the attempted government overthrow case, says the police service.

Police began investigating prominent politicians and state officials after the government claimed that the Supreme Court’s order to release high-profile political prisoners and opposition MPs on February 1 was an attempt at a coup.

On May 2, Police Spokesperson Ahmed Shifan announced that they have begun a serious investigation after the statements were leaked online the day before. Shifan has claimed that a prominent individuals were behind the leak.

While it has been over a month since the leak, the police media officer told RaajjeMV on Wednesday that they have not made any arrests yet and that the investigation is 'still ongoing'.

Those whose statements were leaked include Deputy Police Commissioner Ahmed Saudhee, Police Sargent Mohamed Shaheen, Chief Inspector Mohamed Niyaz, Police Sargent Mohamed Asif. They had given statements against former Police Commissioner Ahmed Areef and the arrested Special Operations officers.

Criminal Court Judge Adam Arif and Civil Court Judge Mohamed Haleem’s statements on jailed Supreme Court Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed were also leaked, as well as a statement given by a member of the public on jailed former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.

Former Male’ City Councilor Zaidul Ameen’s statement was also leaked.
