The 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly will begin in September.
On Friday, a plenary meeting will be held to elect five non-permanent members of the Security Council. Senior officials of the Maldives foreign ministry are currently in New York, where the UN headquarters is established.
Maldives and Indonesia are running a fierce campaign to contest the chair reserved for the representative of the Asia Pacific region.
