Mohamed Junaid has been appointed as Commissioner General of Customs.
He was also appointed as Commissioner General in November 2015 but was then appointed as CEO of Maldives Ports Ltd (MPL) in April 2016.
He resigned from MPL in February 2017.
Ibrahim Muaz Ali, Spokesperson at the President’s Office, tweeted the announcement with pictures of Junaid receiving his Letter of Appointment from the President.

RaajjeMV understands that he was forced to resign as MPL CEO due to the influence of some members of ruling Progressive Party of Maldives’ parliamentary group.
During his time in Customs, Junaid had raised serious allegations against pro-government MP Riyaz Rasheed’s company Meridian for corruption over an oil deal.
