Government to accept flat forms starting Sunday

The Housing Ministry has stated that it will be accepting application forms for the government flats starting Sunday.
The Ministry will be accepting applications from 10:30am to 1:30pm and then from 9pm to 11pm at Dharubaaruge until July 31.
The Housing Ministry stated that people will not have to wait in long queues to submit their applications, as there will be a queue management system in place. The app, called QueueBee, is already being used in government offices. A large number of counters will also be placed in Dharubaaruge.
The government’s social housing scheme consists of 12 categories. The government will be accepting applications for 7,000 housing units in Hulhumale’. Out of those, 1,000 are for civil service employees, 1,000 for married couples between the ages of 18 and 40, 1,000 for unregistered Male’ residents, and 1,044 for registered Male’ residents.
475 units are reserved for doctors, 625 for teachers, 500 for single mothers, 200 for the disabled people, 600 for police and military officers, 256 for the poverty-stricken in Maafaannu Ward and 300 for those who were unable to receive TATA flats or flats in Gulhifalhu.
People can apply for only one category. If a married couple both receive a flat, one of them has to forfeit. People with a home or flat less than 600 square feet can receive a government flat.
Over 40,000 people have taken application forms from Dharubaaruge while many others downloaded the form online.
