State Electric Company (STELCO) has stated that it will take action against publishing false reports on the utility company.

In a press statement on Thursday, the State utility company stated that the publishing of ill-informed news articles creates public distrust towards STELCO, making it an obstacle to serve customers.

STELCO said it has no issue with reports that contain only facts but urged the public to direct their complaints to the company in order to find a solution.

STELCO has faced public criticism for failing to provide a solution to the frequent power outages in Male’ City, which is a longstanding problem that has so far gone unsolved.

STELCO provides electricity to a large Maldivian population including in Male’, Hulhumale’ and other islands in the Maldives.
