Court places third travel restriction on opposition party media chief
The court first placed travel restrictions on Nazeer this March, 21st
Nazeer said the Maldives Police Service informed him that their investigation has been concluded
Nazeer said its unjustified resurfacing shows politicization of the policing institute

The Maldivian Criminal Court has placed another hold on the opposition Adhaalath Party media committee chief Ali Nazeer’s travel documents.

The court first placed travel restrictions on Nazeer this March, 21st. The restriction was placed on the basis of Nazeer being investigated for inciting violence against the government.

In a tweet on Saturday, Nazeer said the Maldives Police Service informed him in March that the investigation into the matter has been concluded, and its unjustified resurfacing shows politicization of the institute.

Nazeer is being investigated for having supported the Joint Opposition’s call to protest against the Maldivian government contentious decision to delay implementing a Supreme Court ruling to release a number of unfairly detained prisoners.
