Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said that ferry services are expected to be delayed due to the rainy weather.

The company has also stopped 20 of its vessels from travelling to the atolls.

MTCC has asked people to be patient during the current worsening weather.

The meteorological service has predicted heavy rain and thunderstorms across the country for the next 24 hours and the defence force has advised caution during sea travel due to the increase of reports of incidents at sea.
