Education Ministry refutes claims of closing off schools due to viral flu outspread
Parents continue to appeal on ministry to close off schools with raising concerns of spreading viral flu
The ministry said that some schools were closed off due to the completion of students examinations and to ease the paper grading workload on teachers

The Ministry of Education has on Thursday refuted claims that schools are to be closed off following the spread of viral flu.

The ministry said that some schools were closed off due to the completion of students examinations and to ease the paper grading workload on teachers since it is the fasting month of Ramadan.

Refuting claims that schools were closed off due to the spreading of the viral flu, the ministry said that schools have been informed to proceed with lessons if primary schools are going forth with their assessments.

While the first semester of 2018 is to conclude on the 02nd of June, the second semester will begin on the 18th of June after recess.

The ministry has said this while several parents continue to send their requests to the ministry to close off schools due to the rapidly spreading viral flu, following which the Health Protection Agency (HPA) has also requested citizens to refrain from visiting hospitals until absolutely necessary.

HPA also said that spread of influenza virus and dengue has significantly increased. The increase is estimated to be related to the lifestyle change during the fasting month of Ramadan.

ADK hospital had also opened a special flu clinic to address the issue of increasing patients diagnosed with the viral fever.
