Former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has once again called on the international community, including the United Nations (UN), to take action against the Maldivian government 'for failing to abide by international conventions and UN's rulings'.
Dr. Jameel who is in self-exile in London, United Kingdom, posted a tweet on Thursday, said that incumbent President Abdulla Yameen has 'demolished all constitutional mechanisms and tarnished the nation's international standing by quitting Commonwealth and ignoring the United Nations',

Additionally, the former vice president met with UN's Assistant Secretary General For Political Affairs, Miroslav Jenca in New York, where he shared details regarding the attempts made by the current government to hinder a free and fair election.He further requested UN to assist the Maldives in carrying out a free and fair presidential election this year.
