The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET Office) has issued a ‘white alert’ weather warning for regions between Haa Alif (HA) and Baa atoll.
The white alert has been issued from 09:45 to 15:45 on Sunday.
According to the forecast, heavy showers will be experienced in northern and central atolls especially islands between HA and Baa atoll.
While MET Office forecasted scattered rain with few heavy showers and thunderstorms to be experienced over the country, winds may gust 40 miles per hour during showers.
Surface winds will be South/south-westerly at 13 – 23 miles per hour in central atolls and 6 to 16 miles per hour elsewhere.
Furthermore, seas are expected to be rough in the central and moderate becoming rough during showers elsewhere.
