The Department of Public Examination (DPE) on Sunday announced application opportunities for the 2018 Cambridge O Level, IGCSE, and SSC examinations slated to begin in October.

The IGCSE and GCE O Levels are held from mid-October to mid-November annually and this year, DPE said that it will be accepting entry fees from the 14th of May till the 4th of June.

According to DPE, candidates partaking in the examinations via school centers are to submit entry forms to the centers.

Forms will be issued, received and checked from 08:30am to 01:30pm and from 10:00am to 01:45pm during Ramadan.

Last year, over 5,000 candidates had enrolled in the examinations out of which 3,800 were students from outlying atolls and 1,500 students from schools of capital city Male'.

The amount of candidates who passed in five subjects had risen to 77% in the previous year and candidates who passed in three subjects had risen to 93%.

Students who were Ungraded in subjects had significantly dropped to 7%.

The year 2016 saw the percentage of students who passed in five subjects at 70%.
