Video evidence against Supreme Court Justice Ali Hameed regarding the terrorism charges against him has been made secret.

Justice Hameed is being charged with terrorism over the Supreme Court order on February 1 to release nine high-profile political prisoners and 12 opposition MPs.

Presiding Judge Ahmed Hailam gave the order to make the evidence presented by the state secret at Monday’s hearing.

Detailing the content of the video, the state prosecutors on Monday said that it shows items being exchanged between two cars near Nasandra Palace Hotel. The prosecutor also said that they did not wish to show the video as it might allow the accused to influence the evidence.

At the three-hour hearing, Judge Hailam concluded to make make secret the video, the intelligence report against Justice Hameed, and the scene-of-crime officer’s report. The judge did not approve any requests made by the defense.

His trial will begin once the preliminary hearings conclude. All seven accused of terrorism over the Supreme Court order will undergo one terrorism trial. It is rumored that the trial will be held at Dharubaaruge.

Those charged with terrorism are former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed, Justice Ali Hameed, former Police Commissioner Ahmed Areef, Dhiggaru MP Faris Maumoon, South-Mahchangolhi MP Abdulla Sinan and Dhangethi MP Ilham Ahmed.
