Maumoon's legal team requested the court to postpone his hearing

Due to Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom's critical health condition, his legal team has requested the Criminal Court to postpone the hearing scheduled for today,
One of the lawyers from his legal team, Maumoon Hameed informed the media that the former president's health has gotten serious on three different occasions within the last 10 days or so and highlighted that while President Maumoon is being alleged of obstruction of justice, the last two hearings of the said trial were also cancelled by the court.
'As his health deteriorated even more around noon yesterday, we have requested the court to cancel today's hearing as well', Maumoon Hameed informed.
President Maumoon was brought to ADK Hospital in Male' for treatment on Friday due to his poor health.
He is suffering from Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) disease. for which he received treatment from an ENT specialist at IGMH even in December last year and his family has provided the relevant medical documents to the authorities.
It is a disorder arising from a problem in the inner ear that causes problems with balance in the sufferer and upon the ENT specialist's recommendation, a police officer stays by his side at all times as it is likely that Maumoon might fall unconscious.
