A second doctor has adviced jailed former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb to seek immediate medical treatment abroad.

After numerous complaints from Adeeb and his family concerning his deteriorating eye condition, authorities brought an eye doctor to Dhoonidhoo island prison a few days ago.

The doctor, same as the last one, recommended that he consult a glaucoma specialist abroad.

This comes after the Civil Court threw out Adeeb's case requesting the court to overturn the authorities' decision to prevent him from going abroad. The Civil Court stated that Adeeb has not fulfilled the necessary requirements to receive permission to go abroad.

Raajjemv understands that the case was thrown out after because adeeb did not get a second opinion from another doctor. However, since Adeeb is a prisoner, the correctional service has the responsibility to arrange a consultation. At the time, Adeeb said that he was unable to make an appointment.

Adeeb and his family has said that his peripheral vision has deteriorated significantly. While there are no legal barriers to him going abroad for treatment, the government has prevented it. President Abdulla yameen has said that adeeb will not be able to leave abroad until he returns the money he was found guilty of embezzling from the state.
