Met Office has issued yellow alerts for Laamu, Faafu, Dhaalu, and Thaa atolls

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has said that heavy showers are to be expected in some islands of the country, this weekend.

The Met Office estimates that islands in Laamu atoll are going to experience exceptionally heavy showers. The service has issued yellow alerts for Laamu, Faafu, Dhaalu, and Thaa atolls.

A yellow alert signifies that relevant authorities and people living in the area should be on alert and ready to take action and that travel by sea is not advisable.
