The sentence hearing for Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed has been postponed to 7pm Wednesday (tonight).

The last closed-door hearing on charges of influencing official conduct was on Tuesday, in which defense lawyer Noorul Salaam was removed from the courtroom.

Two secret witnesses were presented to testify against the justices. The presiding judge had also given a statement for the case, but the court decided that it did not violate procedure.

Criminal Court Judge Adam Arif and Civil Court Judge Mohamed Hailam had given statements during the investigation affirming that the justices had influenced official conduct.

Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed was sentenced to four months and 24 days on Tuesday after being found guilty of shutting down the Government E-Letter Management System (GEMS).

The two justices are also charged with terrorism and bribery and have been remanded for the rest of their trials.
