Member of parliament (MP) for Galolhu Dhekunu Constituency Ahmed Mahloof urged the government to take the issue of Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom's health deterioration seriously, on Saturday.
MP Mahloof, who is also the spokesperson for the opposition coalition called upon the government to take action after learning about former first lady Nasreena Ibrahim's visit to Dhoonidhoo jail due to visit the detained former president, and also after hearing that an officer is stationed with him at all times.
In a tweet posted on Saturday, MP Mahloof said that the government should be concerned about how serious President Maumoon's condition is getting, given that his wife Nasreena visited him in Dhoonidhoo recently. He also called upon relevant institutions to take action while we still have time.
The doctor instructed to provide a private police personnel for President Maumoon due to his health condition 'benign paroxysmal positional vertigo' (BPPV). His family has sent a copy of the document given by IGMH's ENT specialist to relevant authorities. The document confirms that he received treatment for the same condition from IGMH in December last year.
