Reports of multiple-preparator assault of an 18-year-old girl in Maamendhoo island of Gaafu Alifu atoll have surfaced.
RaajjeMV understands that the girl was raped by a group of four men who trailed her home from an outlet store on the island. According to her family, the four men had followed her into a dimly-lit road and proceeded to commit said assault.
Her family further said that the Maldives Police Service has thus far refused to launch an adequate investigation into the case, despite her having had to be taken to the police station on an ambulance, to give her statement.
The Maldives Police Service’s media official said that he cannot provide a comment in relation to the matter. The police station in Maamendhoo island said that only the aforesaid media official can answer press inquiry.
