Criminal Court has again ordered to withhold representative of North-Maafannu MP Imthiyaz Fahmy's passport.

A letter addressed to Criminal Court Judge Adam Aarif from MP Fahmy, reads he has been informed of a order issued on 22nd of April to withhold his passport, granted at the request of the police.

The letter reads that he had not received a copy of the order as required by procedure, appealing for a copy of such an order if it has been issued by the Criminal Court.

Fahmy had tweeted a picture of the letter he had typed out in Dhivehi, with the letter head appropriated for members of Parliament.

He had said in the tweet that the letter had not been accepted because a letter-head had been used, questioning if the recipients of the letter are living in the 21st century.

MP Fahmy's passport had first been withheld during March this year upon an order issued by then Criminal Court Judge Ali Adam.

According to the order issued by Adam, Fahmy's passport had been ordered to withhold under allegations of encouraging citizens from all over the nation to take to the streets to protest against the government while a state of emergency was ongoing.

Fahmy had also been summoned to the police headquarters on several occassions supposedly regarding investigations over the allegations against him for encouring anti-government protests.
