Hearing in fourth charge against MP Mahloof set for Thursday

MP Mahloof was arrested on February 22
He was transferred to house arrest on April 4

A hearing in the fourth charge raised against South-Galolhu constituency MP Ahmed Mahloof, has been scheduled for Thursday.

The hearing in the obstruction charge is set for 1pm on Thursday, at the Criminal Court.

He is accused of obstruction for distributing masks, as protection from the police’s pepper spray, at an opposition rally on 22nd February; he was arrested under the state of emergency which lasted 45 days.

In addition, three other cases against the lawmaker are currently ongoing at the Criminal Court. They are; giving out false information to a law enforcement agency, over a tweet he had sent out on March 2 regarding deaths of detainees in Maafushi Prison, terrorism for taking part in a protest near Maafushi Prison and an additional case of giving out false information over a tweet sent out regarding former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.

He has been under house arrest since March 4.
