Woman arrested for attempting to smuggle drugs, sim cards into jail
17 sim cards were found on her.
90 prohibited pills as well as other drugs were found.
The woman will be jailed for 15 days.

A woman who attempted to smuggle drugs and 17 sim cards to Maafushi prison was arrested on Saturday in an operation performed by Maafushi Police Station. 

Maldives Police Services (MPS) said that the 36-year-old female was arrested under the allegation of attempting to smuggle drugs into Maafushi prison. They also mentioned that the arrest happened on 28th April, under an operation run by Maafushi police station based on information received by police intelligence. 

MPS confirmed that 3 small packets and 3 big packets of what seemed like drugs were found on the woman alleged of the crime. Additionally, 90 prohibited pills and 17 sim cards were also found.

According to the police, the woman who received the allegation was taken to the Magistrate Court of Maafushi where she was issued a 15-day remand in a place determined by Ministry of Home Affairs.
