The defence force’s information officer Captain Ibrahim Azim said they have still not lost hope of finding the missing children.

Captain Azim said that the Coast Guard has searched a large part of the surrounding sea and that a large number of divers and a diving robot are assisting.

17-year-old Ali Fahmy and 14-year-old Mayamin Ali were last seen swimming on the beach in Hithadhoo with 16-year-old Raaif Ali.

Raaif was saved by someone nearby who witnessed the children struggle against the waves, but he was unable to save the other two.
