Refusing to provide conjugal visits is inhumane: MP Mahloof

Refusing to provide conjugal visits to political prisoners is inhumane, says South-Galolhu MP Ahmed Mahloof.

In a tweet on Friday, MP Mahloof said that conjugal visits is the most important right given to prisoners and so denying those rights after the state of emergency is inhumane even in an Islamic perspective.

Mahloof called on authorities to stop committing such inhumane acts for political purposes.

RaajjeMV understands that authorities have recently stopped allowing conjugal visits to political prisoners. The room used for the visits is now being used to detain prisoners.

Also, those under the custody of Maldives Correctional Service are only being allowed family visits once a month. However, families have expressed concern over the family visits being cancelled.
