Adhaalath Party (AP) on Thursday night called on authorities to investigate the case of a man being hired to stab RaajjeTV’s Chief Operation Officer (COO) Hussain Fiyaz Moosa.
RajjeTV has received information that members of a prominent political party offered the man MVR 140,000 to stab Fiyaz.
In a tweet, the party said it is deeply concerned about the report of the planned attack, adding that it was an attempt to aggravate the already eroding press freedom.
“We call on authorities to investigate the case with utmost priority,” AP said in the twitter with the hashtag '#journalismisnotcrime'.
In a statement on Thursday, RaajjeTV said that planning to harm the station’s COO is also an attack on press freedom, adding that RaajjeTV will continue to publish news and remain on the side of the people.
