Court cancels hearing on obstruction case against SC justices and ex-president Maumoon
The hearing scheduled for 3pm was first postponed to 4:30pm
It was cancelled after the three were presented to court around 4:30pm
No reason was given for the cancellation

Criminal Court has cancelled Monday’s hearing on the obstruction charges against former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and Justice Ali Hameed, after they were presented to court.

The hearing, scheduled for 3pm, was first postponed to 4:30pm. The hearing was cancelled after the three were brought to court, after 4:30pm. However, a reason was not given for the cancellation.

While it has been 76 days since the former President and two justices were arrested, they are charged with obstruction for not providing their mobile phones to the police.

They were arrested in February, after declaring a state of emergency, over allegations of bribery and conspiring to overthrow the government. They have since been charged with terrorism and obstruction by destroying evidence.
