Maldives Olympic Committee promises a skate park to Goidhoo citizens in the general assembly held at Baa Atoll Goidhoo today evening.

On the first general assembly of Olympic Committee held outside of the capital city Male', the committee announced that they will be gifting a skate park to the Goidhoo community.

After the meeting, committee members laid the foundation of the park on the area in front of the harbor which has been designated for the skate park.

The foundation of 'Goidhoo Olympic Skate Park' which portrays the close relationship between Maldives Olympic Committee and Goidhoo community, was laid out by the guest of honor of the general assembly, Dr. Mohamed Zahir Hussain, members of the committee's exco and four members from Goidhoo council.

Ahmed Nizam who spoke on behalf of Goidhoo Council said that the construction of the park will begin soon and that youth of Goidhoo will be able to enjoy the skate park within two years. Nizam added that the skate park is a symbol of lasting friendship between Maldives Olympics Commitee and Goidhoo.

The skate park of 2500 sq ft gifted by Olympic Committee will be constructed by the citizens of Goidhoo.

Additionally, the committee pledged to 'say no to plastics' after they laid the foundation of the skate park.

Goidhoo is an island with limited resources and talented youth. The skaters from Goidhoo have been practicing on a single ramp in the limited area used by fishermen. Therefore, the new skate park will be a dream come true for the many skaters from Goidhoo
