The 17-year-old injured in a brush with a barracuda while fishing in the reef of Keylakunu island in Haa Dhaal atoll remains in intensive care but is recovering.

The Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, where the boy is admitted at its intensive care unit, said that his condition has been improving but requires further observation.

The hospital had also stated that they are to send him to capital city Malé for further treatment after some observation and that he has been complaining of chest pain.

17-year-old Ahmed Ismail is native to Faresmaathodaa island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
