Care Society advocates for the rights of individuals with special needs

The Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has made a donation of MVR 52,000 to nonprofit organization Care Society to develop a ‘play area’ at its Care Development Center.

The donation was officially made during an event held at MIRA’s headquarters in capital city Malé. An official from the authority said that the donation is part of its corporation social responsibility policy.

Commissioner General of Taxation, Yazeed Mohamed, that MIRA’s ‘generous’ staff made the donation a possibility and that such events have been held for some time now.

Thoha Saleem, chairperson of the Care Society, thanked MIRA and its staff for their contribution and acknowledged it as important to their efforts.

Care Society is an organization that advocates for the rights of individuals with special needs and works to educate and rehabilitate such children.

The organization’s Care Development Center provides these services and acts as an academic institute that provides special education ‘based on individual requirements’.
