Education reform needed for democratic progress: Mandhu College Chairman

Educators get the most joy when their students graduate and excel in their field and become productive members of society

Mandhu College Chairman Ibrahim Ismail has said that reform in the higher education system is needed to establish a humane and democratic system.

Speaking at the Mandhu College graduation ceremony on Friday night, Chairman Ismail said that achieving a higher education does not just entail listening to lecturers but consists of finding out the truth for oneself.

Ismail, who had been the chairman of the Constitution drafting committee, said that lecturers are only there to point the way.

He emphasized that higher education reform is needed to establish a just and democratic system 20 years from now.

He also said that justice is not in the hands of judges and that everyone needs to have a love of fairness and justice for it to prevail in society.

Chairman Ismail said that educators get the most joy when their students graduate and excel in their field and become productive members of society.

340 students graduated from Mandhu College this year.
