A child has died after the seed of a jujube fruit got stuck in her throat.

Six-year-old Aishath Aaalaa Anwar died on Friday at 7:00 pm in Kendhikolhudhoo of Noonu atoll, confirmed the island council.

The council told RaajjeMV that Aalaa ate the jujube fruit while playing with her friends near the house that evening.

The council said that Aalaa was taken to the local center and had trouble breathing and was bleeding from her throat right before her death.
